Joe Kelly is a Partner with A&L Goodbody, Solicitors in Dublin, Ireland, with whom he has practised law since 1989.
Joe heads up the firm’s Gaming and Betting Law Group which advises a wide cross section of businesses operating in the gaming / gambling sector in Ireland.
Joe has an extensive practice spanning land based casino clubs, internet gaming, betting shops, amusement arcades, hotels, pubs, clubs and the suppliers of equipment and services (including financial services) to the gaming industry generally.
He is a member of the International Masters of Gaming Law organisation, is a member of the IAGA and is a regular contributor to the Irish media (both TV and print) and to international publications including “Gambling Compliance” and “Casino News”.
A&L Goodbody has sponsored an in-depth economic study of gaming in Ireland undertaken by DKM Consultants, in association with the Gaming and Leisure Association of Ireland (GLAI). The report has been used to focus the ongoing debate on changing the gaming laws in Ireland which are currently under review by the Irish Government. Joe and his team have made a number of submissions to the Department of Justice in connection with the review and have had a series of meetings with the Taoiseach, Justice Minister and officials in the Department of Justice and Finance, in connection with the proposed reforms.
